WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS (June 29, 2014) – In 2013, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas released their Certified Organic Fairtrade Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract, making them one of the first producers to offer a Certified Organic and Fairtrade vanilla extract from Madagascar and setting themselves apart as a leader in environmental sustainability within the vanilla industry. Far from being a way to simply keep up with recent "food trends", the introduction of this product was integral to the company as a part of their standard practice of making sustainability a priority in all aspects of their business. Environmental sustainability within the food industry has been an important topic of conversation within the past several years, with sustainable sourcing of products such as coffees, teas, cocoa, and vanilla and other spices being of particular interest to both producers and consumers.
